{"id":405,"date":"2015-03-09T11:46:58","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T10:46:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/?p=405"},"modified":"2015-03-09T12:04:17","modified_gmt":"2015-03-09T11:04:17","slug":"meeting-summary-18th-march-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/archives\/405","title":{"rendered":"Meeting Summary 4th March 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/P3041172.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-408 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/P3041172-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"410\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/P3041172-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/P3041172-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participation<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This meeting&#8217;s 23 participants included 7 guests, some of them new and some familiar, as our guests are inspired to come back for a second or third time. \u00a0We also had visitors from other local clubs, enthusiastic to join in and benefit from our dynamic meetings. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Communication<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">J\u00f6rg ran the meeting, his very first time as\u00a0<strong>Toastmaster<\/strong>. \u00a0 The Toastmaster of the Evening roll is the major meeting roll, and normally with practice the TME gains the skills to become good. \u00a0I can safely say, J\u00f6rg was good on this, his very first go. \u00a0He ran a smooth, dynamic and professional event both in meeting preparation and execution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Speeches were given by <strong>Isabelle<\/strong>, her second speech project (Organise your speech structure); <strong>Eleonore<\/strong>, speaking from the advanced Humorously Speaking manual; \u00a0Karla, again an advanced speech from the Speeches by Management manual, and Ben, an Icebreaker speech to start over again from the very first Competent Communicator manual. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Our new member Bertalan prepared the\u00a0<strong>impromptu speaking &#8216;table topics&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0and chose creative, stimulating, yet accessible topics for our volunteers, Christoph, Andrey, and Radu. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Finally, we reviewed points of strength and development. \u00a0Official speech evaluations were offered by Christian S, Ben, Barbara, and guest Cezar, and Iris gave a\u00a0<strong>general evaluation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some after-meeting networking took place at the restaurant next door, where 8 members &amp; guests stopped for a drink. The fact that 1\/3 of the attendees met afterwards highlights our club&#8217;s culture of\u00a0friendly exchange and support. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>Organisation<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some points and observations to help us improve our next meetings:<\/h3>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Time Keeping<\/span><\/h5>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Iris&#8217; general evaluation included one very important observation, that we sometimes &#8220;sacrifice time for content&#8221;. \u00a0 Speaking for too long. \u00a0While the structured parts of the meeting (speeches, evaluations) are timed, other rolls are not, and sometimes we lose track of time. \u00a0 So ancillary roll holders (including but not exclusively : humorist, word of the day, continuity (TME)) should anticipate and plan their delivery to be succinct <em>and<\/em> communicative. \u00a0This is great feedback, as it can lead to change and individual growth. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\">\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Venue<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Saalbau venue was large, had good acoustics, and was business like, and met the increasing demand of our growing guest numbers.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Evaluations<\/span><\/h5>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Email addresses and evaluation slips were collected and distributed before the meeting began.
