{"id":202,"date":"2015-01-29T17:57:47","date_gmt":"2015-01-29T16:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/?p=202"},"modified":"2015-01-30T12:36:29","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T11:36:29","slug":"meeting-summary-28-january-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/archives\/202","title":{"rendered":"Meeting Summary 28 January 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gmail_quote\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/08_Evaluations_LR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-213\" src=\"http:\/\/toastmasters-bc-frankfurt.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/08_Evaluations_LR-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"08_Evaluations_LR\" width=\"486\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/08_Evaluations_LR-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/businessclub-frankfurt-toastmasters.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/08_Evaluations_LR.jpg 864w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Participation<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p>10 members and 11 guests: another packed house.\u00a0 A special welcome was extended to our newest members, Karla and Petros, by our VP Membership, Christoph.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0meeting\u00a0shows again that the Business Club Toastmasters is a dynamic, quality educational venue for improving public speaking skills and leadership, with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for new comers and guests.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p><strong>Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p>We enjoyed a full agenda, with 4 speeches.\u00a0 Petros gave his first, Ice Breaker, speech, to introduce himself to the club.\u00a0 Moritz stepped up to fill a vacant roll, to speak on the subject of body language.\u00a0 Karla gave her first speech at the club, from an advanced speech manual.\u00a0 Christoph also stepped in at the last minute to prepare and deliver another advanced speech.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oral and Written Evaluations<\/strong>\u00a0were given by Olaf, and Toastmaster guests, Iris, Charlotte, and Oleg.<\/p>\n<p>Moritz managed\u00a0<strong>Table Topics impromptu speaking.<\/strong>\u00a0 There were 4 particpants practiced their impromptu speaking skills: Mirja, Chu Ping, Olaf, and Bala.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p><strong>Organisation<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p>Ben presided as TME.\u00a0 We always aim to learn and improve. \u00a0A number of points for improvement to work on for next time (summarized from our General Evaluation &amp; other feedback) include:<\/p>\n<p>Venue<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The room acoustics at the SIL were &#8216;difficult&#8217; for a meeting of our type.<\/li>\n<li>The tables set in a class-room shape would have been better in a U shape.<\/li>\n<li>Parking not easy for first time visitors.<\/li>\n<li>Otherwise, the venue was friendly, welcoming, bright, and professional.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sergeant at Arms<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name tags would have helped the many guests recognise members (the person who has them was unable to attend at late notice).<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation slips: S@A can place them in advance on the tables,<\/li>\n<li>Electronic evaluation tools: S@A could write the speakers&#8217; emails up in advance up so as not to interrupt the meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Word of the day &#8211; S@A or responsible member should attach the words to the wall or board before the meeting, or come with them ready to stick to the wall quickly and easily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Meeting Execution<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluators should remember the etiquette of introducing a speaker: shake their hand in order to hand over the stage and then retake their seat.<\/li>\n<li>TME: allow support roll holders to introduce their rolls.<\/li>\n<li>Table Topics Evaluation \u2013 either have a TT evaluator, or have the General Evaluator do it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As TME, Ben will finalise attendance, rolls, and close out the\u00a0meeting\u00a0in Easy Speak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<h3><strong>UPCOMING EVENTS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p>The club level competition for the International Speech Contest &amp; Evaluation Contest take place on Wednesday 18th March.\u00a0 Contact Ben or Claire to be a contestant.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will go on to compete at the following events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Area F4 contest -Saturday 18th April, Haus der Jugend, Deutscherrn Ufer 12, Frankfurt.<\/li>\n<li>Division F contest &#8211; Saturday 2nd May, Mannheim.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/d95conf.org\">District 95 Conference<\/a> &#8211; Friday 21-Sunday 23 May, Boras, Sweden.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toastmasters.org\/Events\/2015-International-Convention\" target=\"_blank\">International Convention<\/a>, 12-15 August, Las Vegas,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<h3><strong>MEMBERSHIP<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p>Two new members were introduced to the club, Karla and Petros.\u00a0 In addition, member forms are being processed for Ivan, Chu Ping, &amp;
